Geelong Hockey Association

The Geelong Hockey Association supports our representative teams, the Hockey Geelong Sharks who play in the Hockey Victoria State competition.

The Association also supports the local clubs in the Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast areas by providing a platform for our sport, with competitions organised for affiliated clubs.

Whether you aspire to play hockey for your state or your country, or just keep active with a fun sport, you are welcome in the Hockey Geelong community.

If you’re new to Geelong, or have thought about taking up hockey as a sport, you’re sure to find a club which will welcome you.

Hockey Victoria Metropolitan Competitions

Geelong Hockey Association provides a pathway to participate at higher levels for players and officials, with Hockey Geelong Sharks teams participating in the Hockey Victoria metropolitan competitions. This pathway also brings the opportunity for selection in Regional, State and National representative teams.

The Junior Development Pathway  allows players to play in higher level competitions and still play with their local club too.

Get back 2 hockey

Mediocre Monday provides opportunities to come back from injury and the chance for those who have never played to stop watching the fun from the sidelines and pickup a stick for the first time. Originally aimed at Masters and beginners the idea has slightly morphed into sportsmanship hockey.

It is a great opportunity to try out new skills, lose some weight (many of our participants have experienced Monday slim down). It is also an avenue to returning from injury without the need to push yourself further than you have to in a game when the bench is missing. As there are no umpires it helps people chillax when the ball hits the opposition’s foot, it takes out the competitiveness and leaves you with a pile of amusement and entertainment. With some great backyard rules thrown in as you play.

The biggest aspect of Mediocre Mondays is including everyone that shows up and enjoying hockey. If you have lost the love and want to find it again pop down to Stead Park on a Monday at 6.30 and join the rest of us big kids.

As long as there is interest, Mondays will be running, no holidays here, as fun does not take a break.

Facilities Hire

The pitches and pavilion facilities at Stead Park are available for hire to affiliated clubs, members, schools and other community organisations.

The pitch facilities include two synthetic pitches, one sand and one hybrid surface, with tech bench and player shelters. The pavilion includes meeting rooms, social space, canteen and bar, first aid room, toilets and change rooms.
