Hockey Victoria CEO Andrew Skillern and North West Regional Development Officer Eliza Caldecott enjoyed the hockey atmosphere at both Stead Park and Lloyd Reserve on Saturday the 18th of July. They watched the juniors in the morning and the women and men in the afternoon. At the end of the matches they introduced themselves to the players and announced some of the plans for Hockey Geelong in the near future. They also presented medals to the best players of the match from both teams.

Congratulations to all players who received “Regional Visit Player of the Match” medals.

Andrew Skillern officially announced the ‘Greater Geelong Development Plan’ to Hockey Geelong in the afternoon. The plan proposes exciting outcomes and goals will be reached by the year 2020:

  • Geelong to have Men’s and Women’s Premier League teams
  • 3,000 participants in the Geelong, Bellarine & Surf Coast region
  • Stead Park developed to a suitable standard to host National and International matches
  • Two juniors leagues in the Bellarine & Surf Coast

This article on the Hockey Victoria website is a good read, it shows Andrew’s passion for hockey development in the state and, particularly, in Geelong.
