2021 Season Finals
August 20, 2021As COVID lockdowns have forced the cancellation of some games for the 2021 season (4 junior rounds and 5 senior rounds), the GHA Competition Committee has agreed to alter the normal format of the finals series. The aim of the change is to allow teams to play some extra games before being forced to finish for the season.
An extra round of home and away games has been added for all competitions on August 28. Please check the fixture to see how it affects your team.
The matches added for the extra round are an attempt to ensure that all teams play each other the same number of times. This may mean that your team ends up playing the same team two weeks in a row. If you note any errors or have any questions, please contact Claire Barnes.
The finals series will then be played as a 2 week finals series instead of the usual 3 week format.
Preliminary Final – September 4/5
- U12, U14, U17, D2 Men, D2 Women – 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3.
In addition, the 5th and 6th teams will play on this weekend to determine their final position for the season.
- D1 Men, D1 Women – 2 vs 3. Team 1 into the Grand Final.
Grand Final – September 11
- U12, U14, U17, D2 Men, D2 Women – winners of the Preliminary Final as above will play each other.
- D1 Men, D1 Women – Winner of the Preliminary Final as above vs Team 1
The Premiership for the U10 team is awarded to the team which finishes on top of the ladder at the end of the home and away season. There will be an exhibition match at Stead Park on Grand Final day (details tba) between the Premiers and the Runners Up.
We are hoping that circumstances will allow us to get to the end of the season in this way. If there are further COVID shutdowns which prevent the Grand Final being played, the Premiership will be awarded to the team which finishes on top of the ladder at the end of the home and away season.
We will have to wait and see what COVID restrictions are in place with regard to spectators at the time of the finals, which may necessitate some changes to match times etc. We appreciate your patience and your support, and thank you for being part of the 2021 season.
