Good Luck for the Junior Country Championships

May 15, 2023

The Geelong Hockey Association will be well represented at the 2023 Victorian Junior Country Championships on May 20 & 21.

Thanks to some excellent organisation and lots of keen players, we have 6 GHA teams entered in the Championships, with 83 players in total participating.  We are are also very fortunate to have, and very appreciative of, many members who have volunteered to act as team coaches and team managers.

The 2022 JCC saw Geelong Hockey Association unable to field teams in the U15 Boys and the U18 Girls competitions, so it is very pleasing to see the enthusiasm from players and officials for the 2023 tournament.

The tournament provides the opportunity for all junior players in Geelong to represent our Association, and to experience the challenge of playing against teams from all over Victoria. The 2022 Championships saw our teams return with 3 Silver Medals, which will give the players and coaches some confidence in approaching the 2023 Championships.

Thanks to Gavin van der Meer and his team for the fantastic organisation and the many hours of work put into this event. Congratulations and thanks to all the participants and good luck!
