Geelong Schools Hockey Competition

July 21, 2024

On Friday 19 th July the Geelong School Hockey Competition was held in cold conditions at Stead Park.

Belmont High School, Oberon High School, Geelong High School, Northen Bay Secondary College and North Geelong High School participated in the competition. It was interesting in that many of the players had little experience in hockey but were able to adapt quickly and produce games of a high standard. Many played regular soccer and these players loved their time on the hockey pitch.

The final was between Oberon and Belmont and it resulted in a nil all draw. Oberon played well and their tactics held the stronger Belmont team in check during normal time. Belmont prevailed during penalties and were very happy to secure the title.

We wonder if there is a possibility of offering hockey to these players which will not interfere with their soccer. Thoughts?
