EOI for U18 HG Sharks

Hockey Geelong Sharks are considering entering a team into the Hockey Victoria Under 18 winter competition in 2025. The games will take place on Friday night in a variety of venues around Melbourne, depending on which teams are in the league.  The 2024 competition included Brunswick, Greensborough, Melton, Craigieburn, La Trobe and Altona. We would also have home games every second Friday night. 

The Under 18 competition is a mixed competition that has a social element to it.  Having said that, it is a serious competition with all teams playing a good standard of hockey.  Our purpose is to offer players who are now too old to play in the under 16 squads, the opportunity to continue their journey with the Junior Sharks. 

As such we are seeking to understand the level of interest in playing in an under 18 team.  For this team to go ahead we would need about 18 players who are prepared to make a commitment to playing nearly every week.  We understand that players will occasionally have other commitments and that is why we are aiming to have quite a big team list.

Further details:

• Commitment required but understand Year 11 & 12 studies and Senior Hockey commitments may come first at times
• No training required as most would be training anyway with other teams
• Fees may be lower due to no training
• Same uniform as other Sharks junior teams
• Already have a team manager
• Would look to have some parents who have hockey knowledge offer guidance at games, so no official coach as such. And any parents who can umpire occasionally
