Hockey5s is a shorter and faster variant of the traditional sport of field hockey. It’s similar to what T20 is to cricket, Rugby7s is to rugby and 3×3 basketball is to basketball.

Join us at Stead Park, Corio on Saturday October 11 to try it out for a free Come and Try session. All ages welcome.

Hockey5s was first introduced in 2013 with the intent of driving up viewership of hockey by making it quicker, simpler and more entertaining. The first time the format made an appearance on a big international stage was the 2014 Youth Olympics in China. Since then, Hockey5s has steadily grown in popularity and is played by over 60 nations.

Australia qualified for the inaugural Hockey5s World Cup in Oman in 2024 after winning the Hockey5s Oceania Cup. The Australian men’s team included local Geelong player Liam Kerr-Nelson, who was named as vice-captain of the team.

The team won 2 and drew 1 of their 6 games, earning the world rank of #11.
The final between the Netherlands and Malaysia was a great spectacle, which earned the Netherlands the Champions title in the first year of the World Cup competition.
