Dear Clubs,
The Geelong Hockey Association is proud to support a new joint Victorian Government and Hockey Victoria initiative for a Men’s Health Round, to be held at Stead Park on June 25th & 26th.
This is the first year for a specific recognition round for Men and it will become a regular event on the Hockey calendar in Victoria
The focus for the weekend this year will be suicide prevention. Why? In the Corangamite Electorate between 2009 – 2012 there were 111 suicides (Compared to 65 road fatalities), the 3rd highest in Australia
Men commit suicide at 4 times the rate of women (An average of 5 every day in Australia)
Lifeline Geelong will be providing support resources during the weekend.
To raise awareness of this issue we invite all clubs and the HG representative teams to be involved and promote activities planned for the weekend. Details are on the attached poster
Please distribute to your club members via newsletters and email. Copies of posters in support of the weekend will be available at Stead Park.
