Good luck to the Hockey Geelong teams who are playing at the Junior Country Championships this weekend.

It`s fantastic to see 82 players in the 6 teams and all are looking forward to a great weekend.

There are 47 teams from regional associations across Victoria competing in this year’s event, bringing the best and brightest young regional hockey talent together in U14, U16 and U18 boys and girls competitions across 3 separate venues.

Do You Want to Play Hockey in England?

Hockey Geelong have established a partnership with the Doncaster Hockey Club in England. Earlier this year we had Gus McKinnon and Liam Murphy travel there and play some games.

This is a unique opportunity and applications are now open for men, women & juniors to apply. You would need to pay your own airfares there and back and Doncaster shall provide accommodation at no cost to you. Last year the boys arrived in late December and flew back home in mid to late January. You will play in a team of your standard for a few weeks.

If you are at all interested or just want to know more then please speak to Gus or Liam or alternatively please talk to Graeme Dent.

This is an opportunity that no other club offers and is yet another point of difference for Hockey Geelong.

Proud to Support Our Women in Hockey

On Friday morning, four wonderful women from the Hockey Geelong community attended the 2025 Women & Girls Breakfast, made possible through the support of our Association. Hosted by Hockey Victoria and BCNA at River’s Edge in Melbourne, the event brought together the wider hockey community to celebrate International Women’s Day and the lead-in to Mother’s Day.

This year’s theme — “Breaking Barriers, Accelerating Action” — created space for honest conversations and inspiration. Keynote speaker Abbey Holmes shared her incredible journey across sport, media, and motherhood, encouraging us all to uplift and champion the women around us.

We’re proud to have supported our members to be part of this special event and thank Hockey Victoria and BCNA for an unforgettable morning.

We’re so excited to announce that Geelong Hockey Club has entered a second Division 1 women’s team into the Hockey Geelong winter competition, bringing our Division 1 women’s competition to a total of 5 teams and our total number of Senior Women’s teams to 11!

This expansion represents a significant milestone for hockey in our region and takes us one step closer to our Project 1200 goal of growing from 700 to 1200 players, taking us back to pre-COVID numbers. More teams means more competition, stronger development pathways, and a thriving hockey community.

The timing couldn’t be better – the first round featuring all 5 Division 1 women’s teams will take place just in time for Mother’s Day! What better way to celebrate the amazing women in our hockey community?

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who made this possible – the clubs who’ve supported growth, the dedicated players committed to developing our sport, our amazing volunteers, and the hardworking committees who’ve put countless hours into building hockey in our region. This milestone belongs to all of you!

Join us as we continue to build and strengthen women’s hockey and sport in Geelong!
