Hockey Geelong is holding a Past Players Day on Sunday 13 July 2014 at Stead Park, Corio, when the newly completed second synthetic pitch will be in use.
In 2014, Hockey in Geelong is booming, with new clubs Torquay, Bellarine and Golden Plains recently entering the local competition to join the longstanding Corio, Geelong, Newtown and Saints clubs, and a strong foundation of junior competition also including teams from Geelong College and Kardinia International College.
Hockey Geelong now also has twelve teams competing in various Hockey Victoria competitions. Our juniors are in the Pennant (U14 and U16, Girls and Mixed) and Shield competitions (U16 Mixed). Our senior Men and Women are both in VicLeague1, with the Mens’ thirds in Metro NorthWest 1. The Geelong Women’s firsts and reserves are both currently sitting in the top four in VicLeague1. The Geelong Men are also performing strongly in VicLeague1 with the firsts now in the four, having recently defeated ladder leaders Casey and Kew. The Vets 45+ and 50+ are sitting top and 3rd in their respective competitions.
The Hockey Geelong Past Players Day is a great chance for everyone who has ever played, watched or supported hockey in Geelong, to see how the facilities – and the teams – are developing. We’ll also be firing up the BBQ with sausages and burgers from the famous Siketa’s Meats.
