Welcome to the 2016 Winter Season!
2016 is set to be a fantastic season for hockey in Geelong. The Hockey Victoria Roadshows conducted in local primary schools, and the Hook In 2 Hockey programs run by local clubs, have seen a boom in the number of children taking up hockey at the younger age groups.
The Under 8 program at Lloyd Reserve is starting the year with 13 teams from 5 clubs participating, while Hockey Bellarine, Geelong Hockey Club and Saints Hockey Club are all seeing great development through their Intraclub programs.
There has also been an expansion of the Under 11 competition, and the introduction of a new structure. Traditionally Under 11 games have been held at Lloyd Reserve on Saturday mornings. This year teams will compete in a North or South competition. The venue of U/11 North games will be Stead Park, Lloyd Reserve and Drysdale. U/11 South games will be at Lloyd Reserve. Check the fixture to be sure where your game is being played!
The Division 1 Men’s competition is looking much more competitive this year with 6 teams entered – as opposed to 4 teams as it has been in previous years. That premiership flag will be tough to claim this year so we are looking forward to seeing some great hockey!
This also paves the way for some great games in the Division 2 Men’s competition.
Overall, the number of teams entered for Hockey Geelong competitions in 2016 has increased to 72, compared to the 2015 total of 66.

Good luck to all teams in 2016.
