The 2020 hockey season (you know – the one we almost had) is behind us, and now it’s time to look forward to playing this great game in 2021.
There are currently 625 registered members for the Geelong Hockey Association, which is a fantastic effort given the year that it was. But as we hope for a return to a more normal season in 2021, we would love to see as many people playing hockey as possible.
The Geelong Hockey Association and its affiliated clubs provide the opportunity for male and female players from the age of 4 to 60+ to play hockey in the local competitions, with junior age groups from Under 6 to Under 17, and senior men’s and women’s competitions. Hockey Geelong Sharks representative teams, made up of players from all across Geelong, compete in Hockey Victoria junior, senior and Masters competitions.
So let’s talk to all our friends, neighbours and ex-players and encourage them to join us for a fantastic 2021. Can we increase the total membership to 700 by the end of 2021?
Hockey Victoria Registration
There are many options to try out the sport before making a commitment. However, before playing in any organised game, all players must have registered with Hockey Victoria for the 2021 year. All coaches, team managers and umpires are asked to register their involvement too. There is a zero fee option for non-playing officials.
Registration with Hockey Victoria/ Hockey Australia for the 2021 hockey season will open on January 11 for members who have a credit for HV/ HA fees paid in 2020. Registration for all others will open on January 18. If you have a credit for fees paid for the 2020 season, these must be redeemed by Wednesday March 31, 2021.
HV/ HA fees for the 2021 season will be:
- Senior (age 19+ at January 1 2021) – $100
- Youth (age 11 – 18) – $73
- Junior (age 9 – 10) – $46.50
- Junior (age 8 or under) – $15
- Officials – $35
This represents a reduction in the fees for junior players and no change to fees for youth and senior players.
Insurance cover
Insurance cover organised by Hockey Australia will be provided by Honan Insurance Group. The insurance cover provided includes personal injury insurance, public liability insurance and club management liability insurance. The cover is provided from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. The fees detailed above include insurance cover, so all members are strongly encouraged to complete the 2021 HV registration process before resuming training or match play in order to ensure that insurance cover is active.
