Testimonial Match for Ricky Burns

The Burns Family have had a long association with the Geelong Hockey Association, hence the ‘Burns Family End’ sign on Pitch 1 at Stead Park

The Geelong Hockey community is greatly saddened to hear that Ricky Burns is now facing further challenges to his health. The associated financial costs of significant health challenges can add greatly to the stress of the situation for the whole family.

Ricky Burns is a Life Member of both the Corio Hockey Club and the Geelong Hockey Association, having given a huge amount to both of these organisations and always with enthusiasm and great commitment.

Those people who have played hockey with and against Ricky Burns know that he has a huge heart and desire to win. He has always been admired for these qualities, as well as his friendliness and interest in all. His contribution to this sport and to his community cannot be understated.

Now, Ricky has a huge fight ahead of him and it’s up to us to get behind him and show him what he means to us.

Corio Hockey Club, with the support of the Geelong Hockey Association, is hosting a Testimonial Match on Saturday May 29 to raise funds to support Ricky and his family in this battle.

The program for the day will include:

  • the match at 12.30 pm.
  • BBQ and raffle

Past and present members of the Corio Hockey Club and the Geelong Hockey Association are invited to participate in the day, whether as a player or as a supporter.

A GoFundMe page has been set up, and any donations you care to make would be gratefully received.  Please contribute what you can to help Ricky and Eija confront this latest challenge and let them know how loved they are in our community.
