The Geelong Hockey Association has been well served over many years by its 2 major employees – Joyce Climpson (Canteen Manager) and Gordon Burns (Grounds Manager). However, both Joyce and Gordon have now decided to end their roles with the Association. They will be very much missed.
However, this leaves us with some opportunities to explore, and perhaps find new ways of doing things.
Canteen Manager
As all would know, in November 2021 Joyce Climpson finished up as canteen manager after many years of service at Stead Park. The GHA Executive are looking at options to run a canteen for 2022 and beyond. At this stage I have had two contacts expressing some interest.
This is an opportunity for a Club or an individual to take this role on.
If you are interested as either a Club or an individual please make contact through [email protected] by 18th February.
Groundsman
Gordon Burns, after many years of service to our sport, has informed me he will be finishing up the week ending 25th February. This came as a bit of a surprise. However we wish Gordon well as he transitions to a new life after hockey.
This does create an opportunity, at least in the short term for someone to take over his role.
If you are interested as either a Club or an individual please advise us of your interest through [email protected] by Friday 18th February.
Is this an opportunity for your club or someone in your club?
Please discuss with your teams. There is no fixed plan as yet. We may see a solution from a member. These could be paid positions in the short term, especially the groundsman as we come to terms with how we might manage without Gordon.
With thanks
