2.        Dogs at Stead Park

Should dogs be allowed at Stead Park? Which of these three options would you prefer?

c.       Dogs allowed,  but not to be left tied up at the gate/fences

Waste must be cleaned up in all cases.

 3.      Senior Competition against Ballarat clubs

The ongoing problem with the small number of teams entered in the senior competition, particularly the Division 1 Men, continues to cause concern.

This can make it difficult to provide competitions where there is a reasonable balance of skill level between all teams in the division, leading to a reluctance by some players to play.

The Competition Committee will consider the possibility of a competition format for 2024 which includes some senior matches throughout the season against clubs from Hockey Ballarat. Hockey Ballarat also have only a few clubs in their competition so may be interested in adding some variety.

• If there is a bye in both competitions (Ballarat and Geelong) the teams with the bye would play each other OR
• there would be a “special weekend” once or twice during the season where Geelong clubs play Ballarat clubs and vice versa.

Either of these options would involve travel to Ballarat for Geelong clubs, and for Ballarat clubs to Geelong. Clubs will need to commit to playing games as rostered, either in Geelong or Ballarat. The proposed format would be managed by the competition committee.

If the feedback from clubs (and their members) is positive, the proposal will be further explored with Hockey Ballarat.
