On Friday 20 th September at the Corio Hockey Club’s 50 th Anniversary Chris Armstead was inducted into the GHA Hall of Fame. He was away for our Grand Final day and we thought this venue would be appropriate.
Chris is a talented player who has possessed exquisite skills plying them over many decades. A player who could control and hold the ball releasing it with brilliant accuracy. Chris has represented his State on many occasions and there are not too many hockey grounds throughout the land he has not played on.
Chris has played for Corio, Geelong, Schools among other clubs. He is currently playing Masters for Footscray in the older bracket.
During the peak days of Corio dominating the men’s division Chris was a mainstay in the midfield. He won many premierships and was consistently in the best players. Chris was always available to assist in other roles and was the regular driver for the Hockey Geelong Women’s Shark teams. He also volunteers his time to mow the grass at Stead Park which is a huge commitment and one that is greatly appreciated.
Chris is a worthy addition to the GHA Hall of Fame and we congratulate him.
