Stead Park Update

Progress is happening in the project to upgrade facilities at Stead Park as Victorian-based CO.OP Studio has been named as the Principal Design Consultant for the project, which forms part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.

The following news release from Sport and Recreation Victoria was distributed today.

“Enhancements to Stead Park will strengthen its reputation as a premier hockey venue and give more players, fans and families access to the sport they love, closer to home.

The upgrades include an upgraded pitch, a new pavilion, and increased seating capacity, providing Corio with top-tier sports facilities, bringing the community together and boosting local sporting talent.

Designer CO.OP Studio has demonstrated excellence in sports infrastructure design and their Field of Play sub-consultant, SportEng, is a national leader in the sports field industry.

Local sub-consultants for civil and structural engineering work and a commitment to locally sourced products and materials will create jobs and boost local businesses.

Stead Park is one of 16 projects across regional Victoria which are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, with 5 located in Geelong and the Surf Coast, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay, and play.

In more good news for local hockey fans, Torquay’s Banyul-Warri Fields will see a new hockey pitch with lighting, scoreboard, spectator seating and new car park delivered.

The Regional Sports Infrastructure Program is part of our record $45 billion investment over the past decade in projects and programs that matter to regional communities.”

We look forward with great anticipation to the commencement of these upgrades and the benefits which they will bring to hockey in Geelong.
