Triple Olympian Hockey Star at Stead Park

On the weekend we were thrilled to have Jim Irvine amongst our spectators. His grandson was playing in the local competition and his 2 granddaughters from Melbourne were also competing.

Jim is a former Kookaburra and triple Olympian winning a silver medal in 1976 in Montreal. He was also the assistant Australian coach.

Jim has devoted his life to hockey and has coached and inspired several generations of players and coaches.

We were honoured that Jim agreed to toss the coin before the Hockey Geelong Sharks Victorian League 1 Women’s match against Jim’s previous club, Greensborough.

Jim is with umpires Pearce Frost and Keir McKay.
