Men’s Health Week – Junior Players Wanted

As part of Men’s Health Week celebrations, junior players are invited to form a Guard of Honour for the Hockey Geelong Sharks Premier League Men’s team before their match at Stead Park this week.

The Hockey Geelong Sharks will be playing Doncaster at 2 pm at Stead Park (pitch 2) on Saturday August 16.

Doncaster are currently placed 3rd in the Premier League competition. Their team will have three ex Australian players (Russell Ford #4, Joel Carroll #7 & Kiran Arunasalam #5) plus a player from Holland, Dann Smits #27 who has scored 18 goals in 7 games. He plays in the top Dutch league and has also played in the Euro Hockey League!  The Hockey Geelong Sharks team includes 2 players from Spain, Arnau Labbe #16 & Pol Compa #38 who play in the highest level of hockey in Spain.

Junior players are invited to attend in their club uniforms as a reflection of where our Senior players start. Rachel Moon will meet interested players at pitch 2 at 1.40 pm, with some blue fabric bandanas to recognise Men’s Health Week.

It will be a great opportunity for kids to see some top level players up close!

This special moment will show our support for Men’s Health Week and highlight the strong sense of community and connection across all age groups in our Association. The participation of the juniors will add extra spark to an important day focused on raising awareness and encouraging healthy lifestyles for men and boys.

There will be plenty of other great hockey to watch too with other Sharks teams on the pitch too.
