The Junior Grand Finals held on Saturday August 30 produced some thrilling matches which kept the spectators on edge.
At the full time whistle the U12 Grand Final between Torquay and Corio was locked at 1-1, forcing the game to a penalty shootout. At the completion of the 5 attempts for each team, the score was locked at 4-4, earning both teams the title of joint Premiers.
At the same time on pitch 2, the U10 teams played 2 demonstration matches. The two games between the Stead Park competition Premiers, Newtown Strikers and the Runners Up Saints, and the Lloyd Reserve competition Premiers, Newtown Dynamos and Runners Up Newtown Jets, also gave the spectators plenty to cheer about. These games showed what great skills these young players have, and we can look forward to their continuing participation and future development.
The Doggie Dash provided some entertainment for the crowd in the break between the u12 and the U14 Finals.
The U14 Grand Final between Corio Red and Corio White also provided a great display of skill and determination. Corio White eventually triumphed to claim the Premiership with a score of 4-2.
The U16 game was the Preliminary Final between Torquay and Corio Red, with both teams working hard to earn a place in the Grand Final. Corio Red came out the victors in another close game, 6-5.
