On behalf of Hockey Geelong, I wish everyone in our community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I hope you all have time be with your loved ones over Christmas and enjoy that family time that only occurs at this time. It is a time to relax and enjoy the pleasures with family and loved ones.
I also hope you have a Happy New Year and next year brings all that you want.
Next year will be an exciting one and the redevelopment at Stead Park is progressing well. We have nearly completed all of the scope and the stakeholders in Development Victoria, City of Greater Geelong, Sport and Recreation Victoria and the State Government have listened to us and taken on board our views. They have all been excellent to work with. We need to turn our attention next year to how we “open” the new facility and we welcome your views.
The 2026 season will be different and there will be inconveniences but we need to remember what awaits us. The local season, which we have control over, will be discussed. There is every chance it may be shortened or the same number of games with some being played midweek. These are only options at this stage as we are still unaware of all the relevant dates.
If you have views on how the season should look then please go to your club. Matt Krusic-Golub (Competition Committee Chair) has asked all clubs to feed back their thoughts to him. Exciting times are ahead.
Best wishes for the festive season.
Regards
Graeme Dent
President Hockey Geelong
