Sunday the 4th of January, Brad Marais from Hockey Club Melbourne was down at Stead Park inspiring up and coming players.
We bought our first Hockey Club Melbourne membership for the 2025 season – we hadn’t watched Hockey One before…Liv decided pretty quickly that Brad Marais was her favourite player, he’s a defender and she “really likes the way he plays”. During the season, Liv and her friend Ruby (who’s favourite player is Brad’s brother Craig) became permanent fixtures at the fence where the players sign autographs after matches.
Liv wrote Brad a letter to let him know how he inspires her to be a better player and gave it to him after the Grand Final. Through the power of social media (I tracked down a photographer who had filmed Brad reading the letter so I could get a photo… the photographer came back to me and said Brad would like to be in touch). Brad reached out to let her know how much he appreciated the letter and offered to come and do a session for Liv and some friends.
On the day, the girls had a great time, learnt a lot and would like to thank Brad for taking the time and sharing his skills and expertise.
