President’s Update

Urgent Notice

Please ensure your lock your vehicle at all times while at Stead Park and hide all valuables.
There have been sightings of people wandering about in the carpark.

The Current Pavillion is to Demolished…..
Our current pavilion is to be demolished in late August or early September. We have sold most of the chairs and tables to the baseball across the road as well as the fridges. There will be some chairs and tables left for members and we ask only for a donation. If there is anything in the pavilion you would like then please let Nette or me know. It may be the island bench, cupboards, basins etc. There are also insulation batts in the cage area for anyone.

The memorabilia is to be stored and some of it used in the new pavilion. We ask clubs to have a clean out of their cage as the plan is to have the equipment stored in a container until we get the certificate of occupancy for the new pavilion.

The Redevelopment
The redevelopment at Stead Park is progressing and is on time to be completed in September. Our local Grand Finals shall be on Saturday 22 August.

You will be able to see the building progress happen before your eyes. The roof is about to go on and internal work has commenced. Once completed we will be able to bring events to Geelong that were once only a wish. We have such an exciting facility for future generations to enjoy.

The new Jim Kirk pitch is being used as a storage area for the completion of the pavilion and once they no longer need that space for that purpose, the actual pitch will be laid. It is to be blue in colour
with Hockey Geelong thread into the turf. Tiger Turf has the contract for the new pitch and very excited about supporting Hockey Geelong going forward.

Junior Country Championships
The JCC was completed and a comprehensive report was published by Gavin van der Meer. We wish to thank Gavin and his team for their incredible efforts to ensure the weekend was a
success. Well done all.

The Canteen
I wrote at the start of the season about how things will be different this season and asked for your understanding.

The canteen employs Nita who does a great job and is employed from 7.00am to 5.00pm on Saturdays. Her finishing time last year was 3.00pm but she kindly agreed to extend her hours to
further assist members. We then had volunteers to man the canteen for members to use.

We are having difficulties getting volunteers this season from 5.00pm on and on occasions we may have to shut the canteen. While this may be inconvenient please rest assured that we try to get
volunteers. We only have three such volunteers and occasionally we have other commitments. The canteen is receiving less money that last year and we cannot afford to employ someone beyond
5.00pm. If you know anyone with their RSA and would volunteer in this time then please contact Nette, Cass
or me.

We thank you for your understanding. As always, please see me if there are any concerns or questions.

Best wishes with your hockey the season is going well.

Regards

Graeme Dent
