On Monday we were sad to say goodbye to George Henshaw from the Doncaster Hockey Club in England. George spent over three months here playing with the Sharks.
He was able to stay with Liam Murphy and Briana Lewis and we really appreciated their hospitality. Liam himself went to Doncaster a couple of years back with Gus McKinnon and they already had a connection with George.
George played in our Pennant C side and contributed on and off the field. His role was midfield going forward and in this strong team he was always a dynamic force. This side is sitting second and will miss George.
He was keen to try all things Australian, from seeing Kangaroos to watching an AFL game at the MCG. His father also visited for a couple of weeks and the pair visited Cairns and Sydney which George said was a highlight.
Our partnership with Doncaster Hockey Club is strong and we have Olivia Jenkins leaving for there, at the end of next month.
If anyone is interested in travelling to Doncaster to play hockey and then travel then please see me. This type of relationship is a point of difference for Hockey Geelong and we should be pleased that we offer such an opportunity.
