The Hockey Geelong Sharks are offering a coaching clinic for U15 girls and boys, to assist their preparation for Hockey Victoria’s Under 15 Draft Camp (the selection trials for Hockey Victoria’s 2023 U15 Academy).
All junior HG Sharks and GHA competition junior hockey players in the Under 15 age group who are registered to attend the HV Under 15 draft Camp are invited and encouraged to attend. Places are limited so please register quickly.
Please note: The HG Sharks will be offering clinics for other age groups in 2023, including coaching clinics available for all Geelong junior hockey players in the lead up to Junior sharks trial dates. So if this is not your age group or if you miss out on a place in this clinic, there will be more coaching opportunities advertised in the new year.
Under 15 Pre Draft Camp – High Performance Skills Session
Date: Sunday 4th December
Time: 9 – 11am (2 hours)
Venue: Stead Park
Age group: 12- 15 (born 2008 or later) – i.e Athletes aged 15 years or under on the 31st of December 11:59pm, 2023.
(NOTE: If the athlete is turning 16 in 2023, they are ineligible for U15 Academy.)
Maximum number of attendees: 20 players
Priority for places will be given to girls and boys who have registered with Hockey Victoria to attend the U15 Draft Camp trial sessions for the U15 Academy (scheduled on December 10/11).
Remaining places will be offered to all other players in this age group on a first come basis. So submit your registration early. Player numbers are restricted to maintain a low ratio of players per coach.
Cost: $40 per head.
Registrations close Monday 28th November – Participants will be advised on Tuesday 29th November with confirmation and payment details.
Dedicated coaches from the HG Sharks senior coaching and playing group will run skills sessions in the following areas:
- Trapping and pushing
- Hitting and slapping- clip hit(short grip) – tomahawk
- Elimination skills
- Tackling
- Moving the ball
- Vision drills – pre-scanning & head checking
- Backstick sweep, passing
- Dummy drags
- V Drags
- Goal shooting
- Goal Keeping skills
