The Season Commences

The local season is upon us and we wish all players, coaches, umpires, officials and spectators a rewarding season. There is an excitement at training sessions and Saturday promises to be a great day.

We remind everyone to play within the spirit of the game and remember that at the heart of all we do is respect for each other.

Thanks to everyone at both club and Association level who has been working hard in the leadup to the season.

✨ JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT COACH ✨

Hockey Geelong would like to welcome Nic Brydon as our new Junior Development Coach (JDC). With a wealth of experience as both a player and mentor/coach, Nic is committed to nurturing the next generation of talent and creating an environment where hockey players can thrive.

The role of the JDC is to spend time with our junior players from those who are new to the game to our talented juniors. Her skills will be available for local clubs as well as the Sharks to use and enhance your existing programs. Nic is able to attend your training sessions as well as games to stand alongside coaches to assist them. She will also be available to mentor coaches if that is your need.

Nic is able to be booked free of cost through Graeme Dent. We shall try to satisfy all requests but please keep in mind the sessions need to fit in with Nic and her other commitments. We are thrilled to offer Nic’s services to our local juniors as well as new players. Nic will be going to schools to introduce hockey as well as be available when we host the schools competition for talent identification and coaching.

Nic’s playing career includes representing the NZ 40’s Masters Team and the NZ Under 18’s Junior Blacksticks. She also played much of her career for the Wellington Women’s Hockey Team, helping secure three National Titles, and captained the Raiders Premier 1 Team in Perth. In addition, Nic played as an international guest player for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany in 2010.

As a Behavior Change Consultant and Mindset Mentor, Nic has worked extensively with young athletes and teams to foster mental resilience, cultivate leadership, and drive positive change. Through her work with Believe Mentoring, she delivered transformative workshops focused on mental skills, goal setting, and team culture.
