WE HAVE MOVED IN… THANK YOU NETTE! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

On Saturday, we moved into our new facility at Stead Park, and what a fantastic effort it was! So much was achieved in one day, and there are many people to thank.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Nette Williams for organising the day and expertly managing the many tasks and challenges that arose along the way. From ensuring the toilets were stocked with essentials to emptying containers, directing items to their correct locations and deciding what needed to be disposed of, Nette kept everything on track.

It was a well-coordinated operation, and an incredible amount was accomplished thanks to her organisation, initiative and ability to solve problems as they arose.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to the 26 volunteers from our various clubs who gave their time and energy to help make the move such a success. Your willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved is greatly appreciated.

These occasions provide a wonderful opportunity for people from across our hockey community to come together, demonstrate their commitment and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated and supportive community.

This is the beginning of a new era for Hockey Geelong! Our new facility at Stead Park represents an exciting future, and it is wonderful to see so many people playing a part in making it happen.

Thank you, Nette, and thank you to everyone who contributed. Together, we have made a great start!

A NEW ERA HAS ARRIVED FOR HOCKEY GEELONG!

Friday 9 October marked a momentous occasion for Hockey Geelong as we officially received the keys to our magnificent new facility at Stead Park – the Geelong Hockey Centre!

It was wonderful to receive the swipe cards and keys, making this exciting new chapter a reality. Hockey Geelong Secretary Nette Williams and President Graeme Dent signed the lease, formally taking responsibility for this outstanding facility. While the centre is owned by the City of Greater Geelong, we are incredibly proud to be its tenants and custodians.

We have all watched the development take shape, arriving at training sessions and games and marveling at the progress along the way. Visiting teams have also commented on how impressive and spacious the new facility is. We are indeed fortunate to have such wonderful facilities for our hockey community.

We extend our sincere thanks to Development Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong, Sport and Recreation Victoria and the Victorian Government for their investment and support in making this project possible.

Check the link in our bio for more details of the official opening and Festival of Hockey, October 23 to 25.

Parking Advice for Saturday October 10

Please enter via Station Street if you are helping with the transfer of equipment to the new pavilion tomorrow. There are new gates in the east fence near the containers which will be used for access.

The Geelong Dart Club are hosting the Australian Championships this weekend so parking space in Johns St will have limited availability.

Help is wanted from 9 am to 1 pm (approx) to move club and Hockey Geelong equipment from the temporary storage container into the new pavilion at Stead Park.

There are roles for all volunteers and every hour helps.

👉 placing toilet paper etc into the 32 toilets (!)
👉 washing the new crockery, cutlery etc and putting other new items into the kitchen
👉 putting the BBQ and associated gear into its "cage"
👉 moving the First aid room gear and setting it up in the new space etc .

Thanking Our Volunteers.

Grateful thanks to Lyndal Reading, Andy McGlashan and Greg McGrane (Grubby).

Lyndal has contributed significant amounts of time this season to mentoring and supporting umpires, including the preparation and submission of a grant application for a training course for umpires and coaches. Lyndal’s expertise with umpiring and with grant applications has benefited Newtown and Saints Hockey Clubs. Thank you Lyndal.

Greg and Andy, over four days were instrumental in helping relocate the equipment and club gear from the old clubrooms at Stead Park to the temporary containers. They lifted, moved, directed, discarded and carried many items over that time period.

Greg was also tasked with assembling the new BBQ which clubs contributed to. The BBQ has been used many times since.

The move would not have gone as smoothly without their efforts.

Thank you Lyndal, Andy and Grubby for the countless hours you give to support our players, families, and community. Your efforts help create opportunities for everyone to enjoy hockey, develop new skills, and be part of a welcoming club environment.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do. Our success on and off the field would not be possible without you. 💙🏑
