Summer Hockey Entries Are OpenSeptember 21, 2021
The COVID situation makes our planning for summer hockey still a little unpredictable, but we are keen to start our competitions as soon as the regulations allow.
At the moment, due to the lockdown which is in place, community sport training and competition is not permitted in the City of Greater Geelong and the Surfcoast Shire. Hopefully a return to training will be permitted soon.
The latest Return to Hockey guidelines from Hockey Victoria provide information about the conditions under which training is allowed in other regional areas.
The Victoria’s Roadmap summary of proposed restriction levels for Regional Victoria suggests that we may be able to begin competition at Phase C, estimated to be November 5, 2021.
Therefore we are planning for our summer hockey season, in the hope of achieving a season which will run for 10 weeks in total.
Team entries are now open for the Geelong Hockey Association 2021/ 2022 Summer Hockey Competitions.
The summer hockey season will hopefully commence on November 8 and run until February 25 with a break over the Christmas/ January period. This will allow 10 rounds in total for participating teams, with the U8 program running for 6 weeks and finishing before Christmas. All competitions are played at Stead Park, John St, Corio.
The competitions are half-field mixed teams with 7 players per team. Ages for junior teams are taken at January 1 2021. Details of the team format, age limits and umpire responsibilities are found on the team entry form.
All teams must be entered or auspiced via an affiliated club or school in order to ensure adequate liability cover.
Team Entries Due
Team entries should be submitted by 6 pm on Monday october 25.

Those who have not already paid the Hockey Victoria membership during 2021 must pay the Hockey Australia Insurance fee of $12, which provides personal accident insurance until 31/12/21. All players must pay this fee before playing in a match. Check with your club for details.
New Players Welcome
Competition costs are lower too as the Geelong Hockey Association has chosen not to charge any weekly pitch hire fees for the duration of the season. What better time to have a go at hockey!
