Coaches Wanted for School Clinics

2021 has been a year in which the Geelong Hockey Association has focused on recovering ground after the interruption by COVID in 2020.  The lack of a viable competition for both junior and senior teams and the interruption to our usual school visits and Hookin2Hockey programs resulted in a drop in membership numbers, and the Association is working hard to reverse the trend.

Many children and families don’t have much knowledge of or familiarity with hockey. The provision of a practical hands-on hockey experience during class time at school is a very effective way to let people know what hockey is all about.

The Geelong Hockey Association, in co-operation with Hockey Victoria and local schools, is continuing a very busy program of school hockey visits. But these hockey experiences cannot be provided without the assistance of members who volunteer their time to act as coaches.

Reimbursement is available for coaches in this program, provided either by Hockey Victoria’s Roadshow programs, Geelong Hockey Association with the support of Viva Energy, or Sport Australia and the Sporting Schools program.

If you have a valid Working With Children check and an interest in telling children about the fun of hockey, then we want your help.  Coaching experience is helpful but not essential.
