On 18th July, 2023 the Victorian Government announced a $2b Regional Funding Package which included a $550m commitment to Regional Sports Infrastructure to deliver the sporting infrastructure that was planned as part of the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The media release initially makes the commitment to deliver a new pitch, upgraded pavilion and seating at Stead Park.
We are pleased to let our members know that the upgrade of the hockey pavilion has been clarified as a new pavilion rather than an upgrade.
We are also pleased to confirm the new pitch and seating that will be delivered at Banyul Warri Fields in Torquay, as per the July 18 announcement.
Members can expect to receive further information regarding the next steps of the project in early 2024. We hope that this information will further clarify expected project timeline so that we are able to plan accordingly for our competitions.
