The Hockey Geelong Association Masters women’s team has started the 2024 season well with 2 wins and 1 draw to their credit. The team is playing in the Hockey Victoria Midweek Women’s 35+ BCN division.
Sincere thanks to Palm Life and Geelong Connected Communities for their help in getting the team back up and running.
The team has seen great enthusiasm from many players, even having to cap the number of players. The plan is to keep growing and also try to re grow hockey in Ballarat and Weribee to eventually have three 35+ teams and one or more in the 45+ comp.
Despite an overall reduction in hockey participation since COVID, the womens masters and Mediocre Monday (both sponsored by the money provided by the sponsors over the past two years) have great participation. The opportunity to play in both these programs has added an avenue of fun to hockey that had been missing in a very serious after COVID world. Through this it is helping to rebuild our community base.
We really appreciated that Palm Life and Geelong Connected Communities chose to be part of the journey with us.
Supporters are welcome to come and cheer at the next home game on 15/05/24 at 8pm at Stead Park.
