Hockey Geelong Life Members Lunch

On Saturday, 26 th April Hockey Geelong hosted the Life Members lunch for the second year. There were 13 Life Members present and they dined on a well-prepared lunch.

It was an opportunity for these valued members to get together and share the various stories from the past. These stories are not forgotten but maybe get a touch embellished over time. We truly value their contributions and acknowledge that the present benefits of today that we enjoy and share are due to the hard work of our life members.

The new facilities were discussed and there were many complimentary remarks about the redevelopment of Stead Park and the new pitch at Torquay. There were also questions about the future of the game in the Geelong and Surf Coast area.

It was also mentioned that it would be a good idea for the Life Members to gather more often away from hockey, to maintain these friendships. There was also the invitation of Life Members coming together to assist with archiving our history. Jim Kirk left three suitcases full of archives that need to be sorted as well as what others have at their homes.

It was a pleasant day and the Life Members after their lunch enjoyed watching the hockey.
