Hockey Geelong were very pleased to have Scott O’Reilly on Saturday, 21st June present an umpiring session at Stead Park.
Scott is a local and his family has a long connection with Hockey Geelong.
He met many of our local umpires before and after the Premier League game he officiated. The group then met in the office and were able to ask Scott about the game and how he approaches such games. There were many questions about how one develops their umpiring and Scott inspired those present to further develop their passion.
One take away was Scott emphasising building a relationship between umpires and players along with being comfortable and confident to have such a conversation.
We look forward to any further sessions that Scott may present and thank him for his time.
