Team entries are invited for the 2022/ 2023 summer hockey season, which will begin on Monday October 10, 2022. Under 8 and Under 10 competitions will finish before Christmas, while the other competitions will have a December/ January break and resume for 4 matches in February.
Competitions are available on:
- Monday – Under 8, Under 10
- Tuesday – Under 12, Under 14, Under 17
- Wednesday – Senior Mixed
- Thursday – Masters Mixed (age 35 or over)
- Friday – Friday Family teams
All summer competitions are for mixed gender teams so it’s a great time to play with friends and family. Under 8 games are played on 1/4 size field, while all other games are played with 7 players/ team on half field at Stead Park, Corio.
Beginners Are Welcome
Summer is a great time to have a go at hockey. It’s cheaper, it’s warmer (usually), it’s more social and relaxed, there’s no training and even uniform is more flexible – and it doesn’t interfere with your weekend activities! So if you are a beginner (child or adult) or an ex-player, come and join us.

The Geelong Hockey Association has chosen not to charge weekly pitch hire fees again this year, which reduces the cost of participating. The Association encourages clubs to take advantage of these lower fees and actively recruit new players to the sport and to the Association, with the aim of reaching the 2019 membership level of 809 members (currently 774).
At the end of the 2021 winter season, GHA membership was 748. 85 people who had not played during the winter season registered for summer hockey, which was a fantastic result. We would love to see this happen again.
Umpires Wanted
Summer hockey is also a great time to learn to umpire, and we always need more umpires! Payment is available for umpires in all competitions. If you are available to umpire for any of these competitions, please contact your club, or Claire Barnes.
Team Entries Due
Team entries are due by 6 pm Friday September 30. All team entries must be entered under the auspices of an affiliated club or school.
2022_2023 Summer hockey team entry
Competition Convenors are required for the Senior Mixed, Masters Mixed and Friday Family competitions. Fixtures will be prepared by Claire Barnes, so duties of the convenor are mostly about overseeing the competition and making sure that is is running smoothly.
