When Can We Get Back To Training?

Recent advice from the Victorian Government and Health authorities has relaxed the restrictions on outdoor gatherings and now allows groups of 10 people to exercise or train together.  However, there are many things to consider before this guideline can be applied to hockey training and hockey games. The Executive Committee of the Geelong Hockey Association are considering the advice provided by the authorities, as well as that available from Hockey Victoria and Hockey Australia.

The GHA Executive is in the process of preparing a Safety Management Plan for the use of the Stead Park facility. This will be communicated to clubs ASAP, and clubs will be expected to assist in ensuring that the plan is followed by all members when at Stead Park. It is the responsibility of each club to ensure the safety of its participants, members and volunteers and any staff, and ensure it operates within the current restrictions.

The City of Greater Geelong are also working on guidelines for the use of council owned facilities, and will provide us with details of a safe reactivation program.

Before beginning any training program, Clubs should consider what actions are needed to ensure the safety of your participants. Hockey Victoria have provided the following documents which may be used as templates for preparing a plan to be put in place at club level.
